25 traffic accidents kill 14 in Vietnam's first day of Tet holiday

The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security said on Friday that 25 traffic accidents happened across Vietnam on Thursday, the first day of the ongoing holiday marking the 2023 Lunar New Year, killing 14 people and injuring 17 others. All traffic accidents happened on the roads, which were packed with passengers leaving big cities for their hometowns. There were no accidents in rail and waterway traffic. Traffic police officers also booked and imposed fines worth over VND11 billion (US$469,000) on more than 4,600 road traffic violators on Thursday.
