5 more illegally-built villas on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc subject to coercive demolition

August 07, 2023

The administration in Phu Quoc City, off the coast of Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, will take coercive steps to demolish five more illegally-constructed villas in Duong To Commune this month. The island city’s authorities are working to prepare for the coercive demolition, said a provincial special task force on Sunday. These five villas are owned by different owners, who come from various areas in the country. The Phu Quoc administration has remained prudent and strictly complied with the prevailing regulations when adopting the coercive measures, the special task force said. A while later, Huynh Quang Hung, chairman of the Phu Quoc People’s Committee, signed a decision on October 31, imposing coercive measures against these two villas and forcing their owners to take remedial actions for the illegal construction.
