Australia welcomes Vietnamese PM with 19-gun salute

March 07, 2024

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received a 19-gun salute at a ceremony hosted by his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese on Thursday morning at the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. The 19-gun salute is the highest honor that Australia renders to a government leader, showing that Australia treasures its bilateral ties with Vietnam. This is the first visit to Australia by a Vietnamese government leader since 2018, the year that Vietnam and Australia upgraded their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.
