Conference discusses development plans for the Red River region

QUẢNG NINH — A government conference was held in the northern province of Quảng Ninh on Sunday to discuss development plans for the Red River region in 2030, with GRDP per capita expected to reach VNĐ274 million (US$11,600). The Red River region comprises of 11 provinces and cities: Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh, Vĩnh Phúc, Bắc Ninh, Hải Dương, Hưng Yên, Thái Bình, Hà Nam, Nam Định, and Ninh Bình. This is considered the northern gateway that connects Việt Nam with ASEAN and important region for economic and trade development with China. The PM noted that the Red River region holds strategic importance in politics, economy, and culture and is a northern gateway that connects the country with ASEAN. By 2050, Quảng Ninh will become a modern industrial and service province and an urban area of regional and international scale.
