Ho Chi Minh City hospital succeeds in first entire scalp reattachment

February 21, 2024

Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday reported the successful treatment of a woman who experienced a severe injury, wherein her entire scalp was torn off by a yarn winding machine. She was pulled into a yarn winding machine because she was not wearing a protective suit. She was immediately rushed to the medical center in Go Dau District, Tay Ninh Province before being transferred to Xuyen A General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and then Cho Ray Hospital. Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital performed a surgical operation to reconnect her scalp. The surgery's success was attributed to swift action in reattaching the patient's scalp, the proper preservation of the detached scalp by the patient's coworkers, and the accurate treatment provided by lower-level medical centers, Dr. Hiep said.
