Over 1,600 houses damaged by hailstorms in northern Vietnam

Hailstorms accompanied by whirlwinds across several northern Vietnamese localities damaged over 1,600 houses and flooded some streets in the tourist town of Sa Pa in Lao Cai Province over the weekend. Between 7:00 pm on Saturday and 7:00 am on Sunday, the northern mountainous area and the north-central coast had a rainfall of 20-88mm. The Lao Cai meteorological station reported that the cold air resulted in a drop in temperature in various localities across Lao Cai on Sunday.
