Overweight truck blamed for iron bridge collapse in Vietnam’s Central Highlands

August 27, 2023

An iron bridge in Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, collapsed on Saturday after an overweight cement tanker truck crossed it, with no casualties reported. The truck fell into the stream below after the Ta Nang 2 Bridge, located in the province’s Duc Trong District, caved in. The trucker managed to escape from the vehicle and remained safe, but the iron bridge was completely destroyed. The iron bridge has a weight limit of 10 metric tons. Earlier, the bridge tumbled down on June 19 this year due to another overweight truck, whose owner then sought the provincial transport authority’s permission to repair the broken bridge.
