Vietnam aviation watchdog orders report of air ticket sale during Tet

February 22, 2024

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on Wednesday required local airlines to report their air ticket sale during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, by Monday next week at the latest following complaints about difficulties in buying air tickets and high air fares during the holiday. In particular, the CAAV sent its requirement to Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, and Vietravel Airlines. They tasked the airlines with reporting their supervision of air ticket agents and the procedures they currently have in place to deal with violations. Even routes with the most daily flights, including Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City, for which several carriers offered 20-25 flights, sold out extremely quickly. Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper found that Vietnam Airlines’ economy-class tickets for Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City flights on Wednesday and Thursday were sold out.
