Border guards in Quang Tri Province, north-central Vietnam have saved a young man from a group that tricked him into going to Thailand to get a job but they actually attempted to sell the victim’s kidney for over US$41,000. The rescue was made by the border guard station at Lao Bao International Border Gate in Quang Tri in coordination with Laotian authorities and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet, which borders Quang Tri to the west. D. was brought safely from Sepone to Vietnam at 10:00 pm on Thursday, the Command said, adding that they have launched an investigation into the case. Lao Bao border guards said they deployed the rescue after they received a message for help from the man. After escaping successfully, D. came to a gas station in Sepone and asked for a shelter there.
