Vietnam to send 3 more officers for UN peacekeeping missions

Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday to hand over decisions signed by the state president and the defense minister to send three officers to the United Nations peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Abyei. Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Tien Long, former assistant to the political department of Navy Zone 4 Command, will serve as a military observer at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. The three officers have prepared well to fulfill their tasks at the United Nations peacekeeping missions. On behalf of the three officers, Hieu said joining the United Nations peacekeeping missions is an honor and a great responsibility. Vietnam has sent some 800 officers and soldiers to join UN peacekeeping missions so far.
