Vietnamese peacekeepers build classrooms in Abyei

May 07, 2023

More than 200 children attending a local kindergarten in Abyei, located on the border of South Sudan and Sudan, once had to study outdoors due to the lack of proper classrooms. This was especially difficult for the young children, as temperatures could reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius and the outdoor environment was very dusty. After learning of the difficult conditions, members of the Vietnamese UN peacekeeping mission in the region constructed two classrooms within a month with the hope to help make the lives of these local children a bit more comfortable.
