Vietnamese suffer burns, heatstroke amid heatwave

A prolonged heatwave in Ho Chi Minh City and southern Vietnam has resulted in rising cases of sunburn and heatstroke, as well as a surge in the number of patients with respiratory illnesses. Over the past few days, many children's hospitals and dermatology medical facilities in the southern metropolis such as the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato Venereology and the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital have admitted many patients suffering heat-related illnesses. N.T.P., 45, recently sought medical attention at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato Venereology after experiencing severe sunburn sustained during travel and work in hot conditions. The heat has worsened the health of D., a 70-year-old resident of Ho Chi Minh City, who suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hypertension.
