Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island expects to serve crowds of tourists by speedboat during upcoming holiday

Authorities in Phu Quoc City under the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang expect throngs of tourists to travel to Phu Quoc Island, dubbed Vietnam’s ‘pearl island,’ by speedboat during the upcoming holiday to celebrate the Reunification Day (April 30) and the International Workers’ Day (May 1). Speedboats operate 28 rides daily to transport passengers from the mainland to the island, according to the administration of Phu Quoc City. Phu Quoc City alone served more than 1.6 million travelers, including 285,000 foreigners, and earned over VND6 trillion (US$244 million) in tourism revenue during the three-month period.
