Phu Quoc City in Kien Giang Province, located in southern Vietnam, is set to start the temporary operation of the Phu Quoc International Cruise Ship Port project in Duong Dong Ward from August, local authorities said on Tuesday. The port covers approximately 180 hectares and carries a price tag of over VND1.6 trillion (US$64.7 million). Relevant units are working to complete a road connecting with the cruise ship port in April, said Nguyen Duy Dien, head of the Phu Quoc Construction Investment Project Management Board. Large cruise ships and vessels can dock at the port in August, Dien noted. As per the Phu Quoc City People’s Committee, following the commencement of port operations, opulent cruise ships accommodating 3,000 to 4,000 international passengers will have the opportunity to dock in the city.
