New COVID-19 cases top 2,500 on April 25, highest in half a year

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded 2,501 new cases of COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, the highest daily number in the past over half a year, according to the Ministry of Health. The total number of cases since the pandemic began rose to 11,549,186. During the day, one patient died from COVID-19, raising the total fatalities so far to 43,188, or 0.4 per cent of the total logged infections. Statistics of the health ministry showed the number of new COVID-19 cases has seen a surge over the past two weeks, and fatalities from the virus have also been recorded after four months in the clear. To date, over 266 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide.
